Old Malt Cask Ardbeg 1991. Image courtesy Douglas Laing & Co. This 17-year-old Ardbeg single malt was filled into a refill hogshead in March of 1991 and emptied 17 years later in August, 2008. The nose has a subtle smokiness with touches of honey, brine, peaches, and a hint of heather. The taste is smoky with toasted vanilla, heather, and a slight ashiness. The finish is long, gentle, and smoky. Excellent! (March, 2019)
