Old Kentucky Tavern Bottled in Bond 1952
Country: USA
Region: Kentucky
Type: Bourbon
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 50%
Score: 95 Points
This classic “Ship’s Decanter” edition was distilled in the spring season of 1952 at Glenmore Distillery in Owensboro and bottled in the fall season of 1960. The nose has notes of caramel cola, soft spices, brown sugar, molasses, and a touch of oak. The taste is full of flavor with great spices, oak shavings, honey, vanilla, caramel, and molasses. The finish is very long and flavorful, while fading away gently. Put this Bourbon into a blind tasting with many current 8-year-old Bourbons and it would proudly hold its own! (June, 2018)
Thanks to Ryan Maloney at Julio’s Liquors and Joe Hyman of Skinner for giving me a chance to taste this vintage whiskey.
