Old Forester 2020 Birthday Bourbon. Image courtesy Old Forester/Brown-Forman.This year’s release — as in previous years — came from a single day’s production on June 5, 2010 and bottled after 10 years of maturation. The nose has sweet notes of caramel candy and brown sugar, along with toasted oak, soft spices, and touches of molasses and apricots. The taste has a good oaky character, a hint of spice, caramel candy, molasses, and dried fruits, and adding a few drops of water will open up the fruits and spices. The finish is long and complex with nice spices, oak, and caramel in excellent balance. (August, 2020)
