Old Forester 2016 Birthday Bourbon
Country: USA
Region: Kentucky
Type: Bourbon
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 48.5%
Score: 92 Points
As with all of the annual releases of Old Forester’s Birthday Bourbon, all of the whiskey comes from a single day’s production at the Brown-Forman Distillery in Louisville – in this case, June 4, 2004. The nose is smooth and gentle with notes of honey, brown sugar, dark chocolate, vanilla, and a hint of ginger. The taste is well-balanced between spicy notes of black pepper and cinnamon with sweeter notes of honey, vanilla, and ginger. A touch of oak brings it all together. The finish is long with notes of ginger, black pepper, honey, vanilla, and charred oak. Very nice! (September, 2016)
