Okayama Single Malt
Country: Japan
Region:
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 40%
Score: 87 Points
This Japanese single malt comes from Miyashita Distillery, which opened in 2011 after the owners of the Miyashita Sake brewery decided to enter the whisky business. It’s matured for four years in ex-Brandy casks, and produced with a 50-50 blend of Japanese and German-grown barley. The nose is light with tropical fruit notes of mango and papaya, along with coconut, dried flowers, and mild spices. The taste has notes of green grapes, mango, white pepper, clove, allspice, lemon zest, and a touch of malt. The finish is long and tart. (October, 2017)
