Oban 21 (2018 Edition). Image courtesy Diageo. This single malt from Diageo’s 2018 Special Releases series is matured in refill European Oak casks, and the nose has notes of toasted oak, smoked salmon, toffee, vanilla, and a hint of citrus. The taste is thick, peppery, and slightly astringent with oak tannins, orange peel, a hint of clove, and a touch of spearmint in the background. The finish is long, dry, and spicy with a hint of spearmint. Excellent! (September, 2018)
