Nikka Yoichi Single Malt Limited Edition 2019 Whisky. Image courtesy Nikka Whisky. This is one of two special Nikka releases in 2019 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Miyagikyo Distillery, and blends Yoichi malts from the 1960’s through the 2000’s. The nose has a good oakiness along with a hint of smoke, vanilla beans, and a touch of maple syrup sweetness. The taste has a good balance of barley sugar maltiness, cocoa, and a nice peatiness that comes up slowly along with a hint of honey in the background. The finish is very long with a gentle peatiness, charred oak, and touches of barley sugar and orange peel. Excellent! (February, 2020)
