Nikka Yoichi "Peaty & Salty" Single Malt. Photo ©2018, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. This distillery-only limited edition from Nikka’s Yoichi distillery has a smoky and briny nose with notes of smoked salmon, soft spices, dark honey, and toasted oak. The taste is thick, chewy, spicy, and smoky with black pepper, a hint of clove, smoked salmon, dark honey, and toasted oak. The finish is smoky, peppery, and long with touches of toasted bread, honey, and a hint of spearmint that comes out at the end. Thanks to David Fenkell for sharing it with me! (November, 2018)
