Mortlach 21 2020 Special Release
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Distiller
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 56.9%
Score: 94 Points
One of the eight single malts in Diageo’s 2020 Special Releases collection, and finished in a combination of Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso Sherry casks. The nose is calm and soothing with touches of lime zest and shortbread cookies, while a beefy note comes out slowly along with a hint of oak. The taste has the classic Mortlach chewiness and peppery character along with dried fruits, potpourri, and a touch of oak tannins. Water opens up touches of cooked plums, dates, and mulled wine. The finish is very long, aromatic, and savory with a beefy character and touches of spices and oak. Excellent! (October, 2020)
