Mortlach 16 "Distiller's Pride." Image courtesy Diageo. This is one of the three whiskies in the revamped Mortlach range that debuted in 2018, and the nose has notes of red grapes, blackberries, and plums balanced by subtle spices, and earthy hints of garden soil and mushrooms. The taste is thick and rich with white pepper and coriander spices, honey, vanilla, apricots, and a hint of plums for a great balance. The finish is long with dried fruits, lingering spices, and a touch of vanilla cream cake frosting. Wow! (June, 2019)
