Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This whiskey was bottled by Limestone Branch Distillery in Kentucky. Founders Steve and Paul Beam named it after their great-grandfather, pre-Prohibition distiller Minor Case Beam (for obvious reasons, they couldn’t put the Beam name on it), and finished the sourced whiskey in ex-Sherry casks.
The nose is warm with soft spicy notes of clove and allspice, along with brown sugar, molasses cookies, and honey. The taste is spicy with clove, cinnamon, allspice, and a hint of dill. The spices fade slowly to reveal honey and molasses notes underneath, and those notes linger through the long finish with a slightly dry mouthfeel and a hint of dill. (April, 2017)
