Type: Irish Whiskey

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 40%

Score: 94 Points

This is the first Midleton Very Rare edition for Kevin O’Gorman since taking over as Master Distiller in late 2020, but as with all of the previous editions created by Barry Crockett and Brian Nation, it remains a blend of single pot still and column-distilled grain whiskies between 15 and 36 years old and matured in American Oak casks.

The nose has notes of dried flowers, butterscotch, sandalwood, hints of tree fruits, vanilla, and brown sugar. The taste has a ginger and lemon zest tartness along with touches of dried flowers, honey, subtle spices, brown sugar, and a hint of oak. The finish is long and well-balanced with a lingering tartness and hints of vanilla and caramel candy. Excellent! (February, 2021)
