Michter’s US*1 Toasted Barrel Sour Mash Whiskey
Country: USA
Region: Kentucky
Type: American Whiskey
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 43%
Score: 88 Points
This is the first time Michter’s has released a toasted barrel-finish version of its US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey, and takes fully-matured barrels of the US*1 Sour Mash and puts them into toasted – but not charred – barrels for additional maturation time. The nose is woody with oak tannins, sawdust, toasted caramel, vanilla, honey, and hints of allspice and white pepper. The taste has a good balance of honey and vanilla with white pepper spice and touches of caramel cola and ginger in the background. The finish is long with a good balance of soft spices, oak, and caramel. (January, 2020)
