McHenry Single Malt Whisky. Image courtesy McHenry Distillery.Bill McHenry and his family built their distillery just about as far south as one can go before hitting Antarctica – the small town of Port Arthur on Tasmania’s southern coast. This single malt was matured in ex-Bourbon barrels before finishing in Australian Tawny (Port style) wine casks.

The nose has notes of barley sugar maltiness, red grapes, fresh berries, and hints of honey and vanilla. The taste is fruity with fresh berries, red grapes, subtle spices, barley sugar, and toasted oak. The finish is long and complex with a nice balance of fruitiness and subtle spices. (August, 2019)
