McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Cognac Finish. Image courtesy Hood River Distillers. This single barrel of McCarthy’s Oregon Single Malt is exclusive to the Multnomah Whiskey Library bar in Portland, and comes from the standard three-year-old McCarthy’s finished for two months in an ex-Cognac cask. The nose is malty with a hint of nuts, straw, a subtle citrus fruit tartness, and muted spices. The taste is fruity with notes of red grapes, apples, a touch of clove, honey, straw, and a good maltiness. The finish is long and fruity with subtle spices. (June, 2018)
