Masterson’s Rye 10 Batch #PSA3
Country: Canada
Region:
Type: Canadian Rye Whiskey
Bottler: 3 Badge Mixology
ABV: 45%
Score: 92 Points
This batch of Masterson’s 10-year-old Rye was named the Canadian Whisky of the Year in the 2017 Canadian Whisky Awards, and was distilled in Alberta. The batch code comes from bottler 3 Badge Mixology’s address on Patten Street in Sonoma, California, with the A for the American Oak finish and the 3 representing the third batch in that series.
The nose has notes of rye bread, oak, honeycomb, and subtle spices. The taste starts off dry and dusty, followed by spicy notes of clove and cinnamon with honeycomb and oak underneath for a nice complexity and balance. The finish is long with gently fading spices and a hint of honey. (January, 2017)
