Maker’s Mark Seared Bu 1-3 Bourbon
Country: USA
Region: Kentucky
Type: Bourbon
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 55.35%
Score: 92 Points
This is a one-time-only release of a Maker’s Mark Bourbon created as an experimental batch for the distillery’s Private Select program using specially made “sous-vide” seared staves designed to amp up the sweetness, but it didn’t work for that program. However, it’s unique enough that Maker’s Mark decided to bottle it at cask strength for sale exclusively in Kentucky.
The nose is full of toffee, butterscotch, and honey notes along with muted spices. The taste has a nice complexity with a good balance of spices and sweeter notes of honey, butterscotch, and toffee. The finish is long and well-balanced with fading spices and hints of sweetness. (May, 2018)
