Magic of the Cask Imperial 23
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Speciality Drinks/The Whisky Exchange
ABV: 45.2%
Score: 93 Points
This was one of the four Magic of the Cask bottlings from The Whisky Exchange for the 2019 edition of The Whisky Show in London, and features 23-year-old whisky from the demolished Imperial Distillery in Speyside matured in a refill ex-Bourbon barrel. The nose is fruity and floral with a nice oakiness and touches of lemon zest, shortbread cookies, and dried flowers. The taste is sweet and smooth with a nice buildup of cinnamon and ginger root, while touches of lemon and chocolate balance the spices nicely. The finish is long and smooth with hints of lemony tartness and a soft oakiness. (November, 2019)
