The Macallan 1824 Collection Whisky Maker’s Edition

Country: Scotland

Region: Speyside

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 42.8%

Score: 94 Points

Bob Dalgarno created this travel retail exclusive from barley grown at the Easter Elchies estate where Macallan is located, and aged it in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks. The color is dark amber, and the nose has classic Macallan notes of dried figs and raisins, Heath Bar (toffee), and a hint of orange peel. The taste surprises with a spicy curry-like kick that builds in the mouth, yet maintains an underlying syrupy sweetness on the sides and back of the tongue. The finish is dry and sweet.
