Lost Irish Whiskey. Image courtesy Lost Irish Whiskey.Longtime Irish Whiskey brand ambassador Tim Herlihy decided to create his own take on his native spirit during the pandemic, and Lost Irish Whiskey is the result. He blended Irish grain, malt, and pot still whiskies matured in seven different types of casks from six different countries, including Japanese Mizunara Oak and South African brandy casks. Normally, a complex combination like that leads to competing flavors, but Tim has nailed it with this debut release. The nose is very complex and well-balanced with touches of lemongrass, sandalwood, honey, soft oak, straw, and hints of baking spices. The taste is thick and viscous with subtle touches of baking spices, a hint of pine, figs, dates, sandalwood, honey, and vanilla. The finish is long and fruity with a touch of spice. The only thing I would change is the bottling strength…would love to see what this combination tastes like at a higher proof.  (March, 2022)
