Longrow Red Australian Shiraz Cask
Country: Scotland
Region: Campbeltown
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 53.7%
Score: 84 Points
Think of this as Longrow times two, since the Shiraz wine casks used for finishing this single malt came from Australia’s Long Row winery. The malt was matured for 6 years in refill ex-Bourbon casks, then transferred to the Shiraz casks for another five years.
The nose has notes of red grapes, soft spices, and a hint of nuttiness. The taste has notes of red grapes, raisins, clove, and cinnamon with touches of honey, nuts, and licorice and a good mouthfeel. The finish is dry and short. (January, 2014)
