Liberty Pole Spirits Peated Rye
Country: USA
Region: Pennsylvania
Type: Rye Whiskey
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 57%
Score: 85 Points
This whiskey from Liberty Pole Spirits in Washington, Pennsylvania has a nose full of campfire smoke, toasted vanilla, honey, baking spices, and a hint of black tea. The taste is off-the-charts spicy with notes of chili peppers, black pepper, and a hint of clove. The spices fade very slowly to reveal brown sugar, honey, and vanilla notes that eventually lead the long finish while the spices gradually fade away. This whiskey cries out for a bit of water, which smoothes out the taste a bit while delaying the spicy blast more into the finish. A very interesting and rare peated Rye! (January, 2019)
