Laphroaig Cairdeas 2019 Triple Wood
Country: Scotland
Region: Islay
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 59.5%
Score: 92 Points
The 2019 edition of Laphroaig’s annual Cairdeas limited edition series started out in ex-Bourbon barrels, followed by a stint in small quarter-size casks and a final period in European Oak ex-Oloroso Sherry casks. The nose is smoky and medicinal with iodine, creosote, driftwood, heather, honey, and a hint of caramel. The taste starts off honey-sweet at first, then the Islay character comes alive with classic Laphroaig peatiness and medicinal touches while the honey lingers in the background to add complexity. The finish has a lingering smokiness and just a hint of caramel apples. (July, 2019)
