King of Kentucky Bourbon. Image courtesy Brown-Forman.Brown-Forman has revived this brand from Bourbon’s past with a new 14-year-old annual single barrel release that will be available exclusively in Kentucky. The ABV will vary from barrel to barrel, and our 2018 release sample was approximately 67% ABV. The nose is woody with notes of charred caramel and dark chocolate, grilled pineapple, cooked bananas, and a hint of chocolate mint leaves from the garden. The taste is mouth-coating with intense spicy notes of black pepper, chili powder, and cardamom that fade to reveal black cherries, dark chocolate fudge, and a hint of pipe tobacco. The finish is long and slightly astringent with lingering spices and oak. (June, 2018)
