Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This debut release from Minnesota’s O’Shaughnessy Distilling was created by former Midleton master distiller Brian Nation, and blends sourced Irish single pot still and grain whiskies with American rye whiskey. The nose has a honey sweetness with touches of baking spices, toasted oak, caramel, and a hint of dark fruits. The taste has a good balance of sweetness and spice, with touches of clove and allspice complemented by peaches, apricots, and a hint of lemon. Honey, butterscotch, and a hint of oak add complexity in the background. The finish is long, smooth, and fades away gently. Excellent! (August, 2021)
