This rye is nearly six years old, and is the first Rieger bottling of its own whiskey from when the distillery opened under the late Dave Pickerell’s guidance in the fall of 2015. The nose is aromatic and complex with baking spices, toasted oak, caramel, vanilla, honey, and hints of baking chocolate, dried fruits, and maple. The taste is thick and spicy with notes of clove, cinnamon, and black pepper that gradually fade to reveal cocoa, honey, toasted oak, and hints of dried fruits in the background The finish is long, spicy, and warming. Dave would be proud! (August, 2021)
