Ironclad Distillery in Newport News, Virginia took their Bourbon and finished it in Petit Verdot wine casks from Virginia’s Flying Fox Winery. The nose is jammy with notes of blackberries, raspberries, plums, raisin bread, and a good oakiness. The taste starts off thick and mouth-puckering as notes of allspice and coriander seeds add a good spiciness balanced by berry cobbler and a touch of plums in the background. The finish is dry and fruity with a subtle touch of spice. (November, 2019)
