Infrequent Flyers Orkney 20 Years Old. Image courtesy Alistair Walker Whisky Company. This whisky was distilled in June of 1999 at an undisclosed Orkney distillery (pick one, there are only two) and matured in a hogshead cask before being bottled in 2019. The nose is dry and light with hints of brine and smoked salmon, campfire wood, and a subtle hint of brown sugar in the background. The taste is peppery with a hint of smoke, grilled citrus fruits, and a hint of oak. The finish is very long with touches of anise, licorice, and a citrusy tartness. Very nice! (March, 2020)
