Hudson Whiskey “Back Room Deal”
Country: USA
Region: New York
Type: Rye Whiskey
Bottler: Distiller
ABV: 46%
Score: 89 Points
Tuthilltown Spirits hasn’t distilled a peated rye whiskey, but it’s done the next best thing by finishing this one in casks previously used to mature peated Scotch whisky (the source of those casks is the “Back Room Deal” reference). The nose has a hint of peat smoke along with baking spices, honey, caramel, vanilla, and a hint of anise. The taste is thick and chewy with good spicy notes of clove, cinnamon, and allspice along with vanilla and honey. The finish is long with gently fading spices and touches of honey and anise.
