Hirsch The Horizon Straight Bourbon. Image courtesy Hotaling & Co. This 2020 release reviving the Hirsch brand is blended from two different MGP Bourbons, with the primary component a 5-year, 4-month-old 21% rye Bourbon, and the rest a 6-year-old high-rye Bourbon. The nose is sweet with honey, brown sugar, a hint of caramel candy, and vanilla notes. The spices come alive slowly on the taste after a honey-sweet start, with white pepper and allspice complementing honey, brown sugar, and vanilla with a subtle hint of vanilla in the background. The finish is long with lingering spices and a hint of honey. (May, 2020)
