Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
There’s only one way that you’ll be able to taste this one. It’s a vatting of several of Highland Park’s remaining casks from 1968, and is poured exclusively for distillery visitors on the £500 “Vintage” and £1,000 “Day at the Distillery” tours.
The nose has a gentle smokiness with notes of grilled pineapple, papaya, mango, candied orange peel, and a hint of honey. The taste is well-balanced, vibrant and fruity with mango, papaya, orange peel, and subtle allspice and ginger spicy notes that don’t overpower the fruitiness. However, they develop fully on the finish to add even more complexity and fade away smoothly after a long, amazing experience. An all-time classic! (May, 2017)
