Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This is a travel retail version of Highland Park’s classic 18-year-old single malt bottled at 46% ABV (the original retail version is bottled at 43%), and the only way to get an even stronger version is to visit the distillery on Orkney – the only place to get a cask-strength version. The nose is very aromatic with a gentle peatiness and notes of cherry cobbler, cocoa beans, and honey. The taste starts off with a sweet note of chocolate-covered cherries followed by a mouth-filling peatiness balanced by cocoa powder, honey, and a hint of spice. The finish is long with a gentle smokiness, soft spices, and hints of dark chocolate. A worthy companion to a longtime classic! (September, 2018)
