High Road Bourbon Burnt Sugar Ice Cream. Photo ©2018, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media.Every few months, we get the urge to try a new whiskey-flavored ice cream, and this may be the best one yet. Georgia’s High Road makes its Bourbon Burnt Sugar flavor with Kentucky Bourbon and sorghum syrup, and the result is excellent. The nose is cold and creamy (duh!) with a nice whiff of bourbon and vanilla. The taste starts off with vanilla and brown sugar notes at first, while the Bourbon comes alive slowly but with a very nice flavor that lingers through the finish along with a touch of vanilla. Warning: just as with whiskey, overdoing it with this ice cream can be hazardous to your health…or in this case, your waistline. (July, 2018)
