Hart Brothers Mortlach 1994. Image courtesy Hart Brothers. This 23-year-old Speyside single malt was distilled in 1994 and bottled after 23 years in an ex-Sherry cask. The nose is fruity and floral with hints of red apples, ginger root, stewed prunes, raisins, old leather, and juniper. The taste is smooth and spicy with apple pie, ginger, hints of allspice and cinnamon, and a touch of almond oil in the background. The finish is medium-length and slightly dry with hints of nutmeg, cinnamon, and juniper for a very gin-like experience. (November, 2019)
