This whiskey gets its name from Ireland’s legendary “pirate queen,” and is blended from whiskies distilled at Great Northern Distillery and Cooley matured for between 3 and 10 years with some in Rum casks along with ex-Bourbon and French Oak. The nose has a nice maltiness along with notes of honey, butterscotch, and a hint of dried fruits. The taste has a good balance of fruitiness and subtle spices, a touch of oak tannins, and a hint of almond oil. The finish is long and well-balanced with subtle spices, toasted vanilla, and a good fruity character. (June, 2020)
