Gordon & MacPhail Rare Vintage 1967 Strathisla
Country: Scotland
Region: Speyside
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Gordon & MacPhail
ABV: 43%
Score: 90 Points
This single malt from Gordon & MacPhail’s Rare Vintage range was bottled in early 2015 after 47 years in first-fill ex-Sherry butts, and the sherry influence is clearly apparent on the nose with notes of figs, Christmas cake, berry cobbler, ginger, a touch of oak, manuka honey, and butterscotch. The taste is thick and sherried with tree fruits, clove, baked oranges, manuka honey, oak, and a touch of ginger that develops with time. The finish is extremely long and fruity with touches of oak and pipe tobacco adding balance. (June, 2016)
