Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Longmorn 1961 Cask #508. Image courtesy Gordon & MacPhail. This is one of two casks of 1961 Longmorn selected by Gordon & MacPhail’s Stuart and Richard Urquhart for the family-owned company’s Private Collection series. Stuart chose this American Oak ex-Sherry cask, and the nose is sweet and fruity with fresh berries, freshly ground vanilla powder, brown sugar, and gentle spices. The taste has a nice balance of fruity notes and spices with touches of black cherries, baking spices, oak tannins, and a hint of licorice. The finish is long and oaky with lingering spices and that same hint of licorice. (October, 2018)
