Country: Scotland

Region: Speyside

Type: Single Malt

Bottler: Gordon & MacPhail

ABV: 56.1%

Score: 96 Points

This is the second release in Gordon & MacPhail’s series honoring the late “Mr George” Urquhart, and it’s a classic. The 1957 Glen Grant spent 64 years in a first-fill Sherry butt and was bottled at cask strength: 56.1% ABV. The nose has touches of Christmas cake, orange marmalade, baking spices, and hints of molasses and candle wax. The taste has notes of cherries, pipe tobacco, menthol, and hints of apples, orange peel, and baking spices. The finish is long with lingering spices, tree fruits, and a touch of charred oak. Excellent! (July, 2022)
