Gordon &MacPhail Glen Grant 1950 Single Malt. Photo ©2017, Mark Gillespie/CaskStrength Media. This whisky was bottled in 2010 after 60 years in a pair of ex-Sherry casks, but like a lot of vintage Glen Grants, never lost its youthful charm. The nose is vibrant and fruity with notes of fresh peaches, mango, honey, green tea, lemon custard, and the barest whiff of oak. The taste is fruity and floral with a nice citrusy tartness that develops slowly and smoothly, with touches of mangoes, peaches, ginger, and a hint of allspice that develops later. The finish is long, light, and fruity with that same soft citrusy tartness and the hint of allspice that fade away gently. Outstanding! (October, 2017)
