Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
The name of this 2018 release in the Northern Border Collection Rare Series comes from the eleven orphans adopted by Gooderham & Worts founder William Gooderham in 1832 after their parents died on the voyage he made with them from England. It’s a blend of eleven component whiskies created by Dr. Don Livermore and matured in a combination of virgin oak, ex-Bourbon, and refill Canadian Whisky casks. The nose is warm, aromatic, and complex with a soft oakiness, tree fruits, touches of roasted almonds and vanilla beans, and a hint of black cherries. The taste has good rye spiciness balanced by fruity notes of peaches, apricots, and a hint of grapefruit along with a touch of honeycomb. The finish gently fades away with hints of clove, allspice, honey, and dried fruits. Excellent! (January, 2019)
