Glenturret Sherry Cask. Image courtesy Glenturret/Edrington.The third release of this Highland single malt is matured in Spanish Oak casks seasoned with Sherry before being sent to the distillery in Scotland. The nose has notes of dried fruits, peach pie, toffee, and a hint of nuttiness. The taste is fruity and mouth-coating with notes of Christmas cake, toffee, cinnamon, and a hint of almond oil that comes out as the spices begin to fade. The finish has those lingering spices and almond oil, along with toffee, dried fruits, and a hint of butterscotch. Excellent complexity! (February, 2018)
