Glenmorangie Pride 1974. Image courtesy Glenmorangie. This is the oldest Glenmorangie expression on record, and was matured for 41 years in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks. The nose has notes of salted caramel, dark chocolate, rum, subtle orange peel, hints of ginger root and black cherries, and a touch of raisins. The complex, well-balanced taste reminds me of apple cobbler, candied oranges, toffee, rum, and brown sugar on the sweet and fruity side, complemented well by spicier notes of clove, ginger root, and anise. The long, creamy finish has a hint of menthol, dark chocolate fudge, cocoa, and a lingering note of clove. Excellent! (March, 2017)
