Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This is a collaboration between Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman and the brewers at the Speyside Craft Brewery in Forres, and is the first release in a new range of Experimental Series whiskies from Glenfiddich. The whisky was finished in the IPA casks, and the nose is aromatic, malty, and hoppy with a touch of lemon zest, oak, vanilla, caramel, and cocoa. The taste is spicy and slightly tart with hints of cinnamon and black pepper, along with lemon zest, a nice maltiness with touches of hops and oak, vanilla, and green apples in the background. The finish is long with a subtle hoppiness that doesn’t overpower more delicate notes of green apples and vanilla. (February, 2017)
