Producing WhiskyCast has given me the opportunity to taste some really amazing whiskies, and I’m pleased to share my tasting notes with you here. You can search my entire database of tasting notes from this page, and I hope you’ll find it useful.
This GlenDronach single malt spent 12 years in an Oloroso Sherry puncheon cask, and the nose has touches of dark fruits, clover honey, and candied orange slices, along with hints of nutmeg, allspice, almonds, and sandalwood. The taste is well-balanced between sweetness, spices, and a fruity character, with notes of sultanas, plums, apricots, figs, honey, and orange marmalade. Touches of nutmeg, allspice, and clove add complexity. Adding water accentuates the fruity character at first, then brings the spices to the forefront for a multi-layered and complex dram. The finish is long, gentle, and well-balanced. (March, 2021)
