This 26-year-old GlenDronach was matured in a Ruby Port pipe. The nose is aromatic and fruity with a wonderful complexity, as soft touches of figs, dates, and black cherries balance honey, butterscotch, subtle spices, and an earthy hint of fresh mushrooms. The taste is very mellow and gentle at first, creeping up on you with an excellent fruity character led by notes of blackberry jam, black grapes, figs, dates, and subtle spices. The finish is long and smooth, but here’s a warning: do not add water to this whisky unless you want all of the goodness to disappear. It’s excellent on its own! (March, 2021)
