Glendalough Mizunara Cask Finish
Country: Ireland
Region:
Type: Single Malt
Bottler: Glendalough Distillery
ABV: 46%
Score: 92 Points
This 13-year-old Irish single malt is finished in some of the rarest wood around: Mizunara Oak from Japan. The distillery was able to source its Mizunara casks from one of the few independent Japanese cooperages with access to virgin Mizunara Oak, and put its sourced single malt into those casks for between nine and 12 months. The result is a single malt with a fresh, fruity nose full of apricots, red apples, peaches, sandalwood, and honey. The taste balances cinnamon and ginger spices with apricots, apples, honey, vanilla, and a touch of coconut. The finish is long and vibrant with a great balance of fruit and spices. Excellent!
