Frey Ranch Straight Rye

Country: USA

Region: Nevada

Type: Rye Whiskey

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 50%

Score: 93 Points

Frey Ranch Straight Rye Whiskey. Image courtesy Frey Ranch. Just as with the Frey Ranch Straight Bourbon released earlier this year, this five-year-old Bottled in Bond Rye whiskey comes from grain grown on the Frey family’s farm near Reno, Nevada. The nose is warm and soothing with baking spices, molasses cookies, oak, and brown sugar. The taste is thick and spicy, but well-balanced with clove, cinnamon, and black pepper complementing tree fruits, molasses, brown sugar, and a touch of oak. The finish has lingering spices, honey, and a touch of oak. Excellent! (July, 2020)
