Frey Ranch Straight Bourbon. Image courtesy Frey Ranch. The four different grains used in this debut release were all grown on the Frey Ranch in Fallon, Nevada, where Colby Frey has taken the generations-old family farm and added a distillery. The nose has muted spices along with dark chocolate, leather, tobacco, honey, and vanilla. The taste is spicy and peppery with chili powder, black pepper, and a touch of cinnamon complemented by honey, caramel, and cocoa notes in the background. The finish is long and spicy with a touch of oak and honey sweetness underneath. An excellent debut! (May, 2020)
