Frey Ranch Single Barrel Bourbon

Country: USA

Region: Nevada

Type: Bourbon

Bottler: Distiller

ABV: 63.19%

Score: 94 Points

Frey Ranch Distiller's Reserve Bourbon. Image courtesy Frey Ranch. I don’t give awards, but if I did, Nevada’s Frey Ranch would be a serious contender for “Newcomer of the Year” honors. All three of Frey Ranch’s debut releases in 2020 have been excellent, including this stunning Distiller’s Reserve single barrel Bourbon is stunning. The nose has a nice balance of sweetness and dryness with sawdust, charred oak, caramel and honey with muted spices. The taste is thick, chewy, and very spicy with chili powder and cinnamon bark balanced by honey and black tea notes, along with a hint of apples and charred oak. The finish is long and spicy with a nice underlying sweetness. Excellent! (December, 2020)
