The annual release of Four Roses Limited Edition Small Batch is eagerly awaited by the distillery’s fans, and Master Distiller Brent Elliott picked four different recipes ranging from 12 to 19 years old to create the 2020 edition. The nose has notes of apple pie, a hint of orange peel, touches of dried flowers, honey, and vanilla. The taste is fruity with a good spiciness as apples, pears, apricots, and a hint of peaches are balanced by a touch of clove. Adding water opens up the floral notes on the nose while boosting the spiciness on the palate. The finish is long with fruity flavors that linger nicely with touches of dry oakiness and spice. Excellent! (August, 2020)
